United University Professions (UUP), Binghamton Chapter invites faculty and professional staff to “FALL FROLIC.”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wednesday, October 26, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Mandela Room, University Union <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Join us for hot hors d’oeuvres, mini pastries, beverages, and good company. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Music will be provided by the Harpur Jazz Conspiracy Quartet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

 There will be an opportunity during this event for members to directly ask questions to the UUP statewide chief negotiator, Bret Benjamin, as part of the festivities. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a members-only event.  Membership cards <\/strong>
will be available at the door to join UUP.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sign up for student debt clinics<\/strong>:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Time is running out to sign up for UUP student debt clinics in October to learn more about the federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness program and income-driven repayment plans. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

UUP members already enrolled in PSLF or are about to enroll can learn more about a limited waiver\u2014that ends Oct. 31\u2014to get previous student loan payments counted toward forgiveness, even if the borrower was not enrolled in PSLF at the time they made those payments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clinics will be offered:
Oct. 21:     2 p.m. \u2013 3:30 p.m.
Oct. 22:     9 a.m. \u2013 10:30 a.m<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Contingent Concerns<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Negotiation town halls focusing<\/strong> on contingent concerns: Contingent employees can learn how UUP fights for contingents in new contract negotiations with the state at virtual town hall seminars on Oct. 26 and Oct. 27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The seminars are open to members and non-members. The sessions will focus on UUP\u2019s bargaining efforts to improve the working conditions of contingent employees. The presentations will be led by UUP Chief Negotiator Bret Benjamin and Counsel to President Elizabeth Hough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These dates are:

If you are unable to attend either of these meetings you can submit ideas for UUP\u2019s Legislative Agenda through our online portal HERE<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We had many successes last year due to the hard work of our members. And we have even greater opportunities to move our institutions forward if we work together. I encourage you to be active, participate in our advocacy efforts, and add your voice in advocating for our union and our common interests. Your ideas and suggestions are critical for us to create a comprehensive agenda that will gather political support across New York<\/p>\n\n\n\n
