Executive Board meeting

Attending: Jacqui Berger, Dick Butler, Jay Gilbert, Reynolds Jones, Maureen Kravec, Cathy Leaker, Ann Loughman, Pamela Malone, Phillip Ortiz, Dave Puskas, Julie Shaw, Mark Soderstrom, Maureen Seidel (NYSUT Labor Relations Specialist).

By request of the chapter executive board at the June meeting, this meeting was scheduled to be in the form of a “retreat,” to review the contents of the UUP NYS Agreement, and to cover other issues of general interest to board members. The meeting began with a presentation by Ken Holman, the UUP web site specialist and technical associate, on the current stage of development of the new chapter website. The website was discussed in some detail by the chapter board, and some additional suggestions for format and content were offered.

Our NYSUT Labor Relations Specialist Maureen Seidel gave an extended presentation on how to interpret all of the articles in the contract. The presentation was accompanied by handouts received by all members of the chapter board and was followed by a question and answer session.

NYSUT Labor Relations Specialist Susan Jones gave a presentation on how to hold effective meetings. This presentation was also accompanied by handouts received by all members of the chapter board and was followed by a question and answer session.

A workshop for All College regarding benefits was discussed. The workshop will be divided into thirds and will be either a union, or a joint union/management presentation. Phillip Ortiz volunteered to oversee the organization of this event.

A discussion of union meetings at centers in the college led to a committee being formed of Dave Puskas, Cathy Leaker and Jacqui Berger, to work on guidelines for meeting formats.

The next board meeting was set for Tuesday the 11th of December at the NYSUT building in Latham.
